Museum of Pop Culture Brand System

Willow Coffee Co. is a local coffeeshop in the downtown OKC area focused on creating an inclusive space for the community and craft coffee that’s delicious but not pretentious. Their tagline is “our passion is fueling yours” and they truly live these words.

Previous (top) and Final logo re-design (bottom): after a couple rounds of iteration, I arrived at this final logo design - capturing the energy of a this fun museum with a punchy, flexible and geometric type that can be implemented in a variety of ways across all collateral.

The process behind the designs: Here you can see a few of the concept explorations I spent time honing in and refining before deciding on the final design direction. I was interested in using the building’s funky shape as inspiration, and even drawing from Mondrian’s artwork for the square option you see on the left.

Brand applications: After the logo design was created, I created applications such as museum tickets and gift shop bags to show what the branding being implemented would look like.

Museum wayfinding: After creating the brand collateral, I also designed a set of icons that could be used as wayfinding around the museum that matched the visual styling of the new branding. I also mocked up posters advertising the current exhibits to the city, to attract new visitors.

Letterhead+business cards: Square business cards lean into the modular visual identity of the new branding and the geometric letter shapes become a pattern that can be used in a variety of ways across different employees’ cards. Note: even the small details, like the 3 lines of text oriented vertically on the left side of the letterhead, are nods to the 3 buildings the museum is made up of.
